Stronach Group has filed a lawsuit against the fantasy horseracing operator DerbyWars.com, claiming that the site breaches gaming law for the US state of California.
Stronach, which operates online wagering site Xpressbet, calims DerbyWars breached the federal Interstate Horseracing Act by offering wagering activity without a California licence. The suit, filed in the US District Court for Central California, argues that the exemptions set out in the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act do not apply to such operations and seeks both a jury trial and unspecified damages.
