Ireland's previously stalled proposals for the taxation of online gambling revenues is now to be signed into law, finance minister Michael Noonan has announced.

Plans to tax online gambling were originally tabled in 2011 as the government sought to extend the one per cent tax on bets placed in LBOs to wagers made online or via telephone.
After numerous delays, the legislation will impose the tax on operators licensed in other jurisdictions that are granted licences to offer i-gaming in Ireland.
The Irish government plans to begin imposing the levy on bookmakers later this year.
