Cairo’s new snow FEC opens today at the Mall of Egypt.
The US$722m mall is a sister brand to the iconic Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, also developed by Majid Al Futtaim, the group with the famous FEC brand Magic Planet.
The Dubai mall hosts the Middle East’s first ski slope/FEC in Ski Dubai, and the Cairo project, which is in the 6th of October City suburb of Cairo, will follow the pattern with the name Ski Egypt.
The city’s first snow slope, the location also hosts a 21-screen VOX cinema complex, 165,000sq.m of retail space and 6,500 parking spaces. Additionally, MAF invested $19m in developing the infrastructure around the mall to a distance of 10km to improve access.
The mall complex is expected to mean employment for 41,000 people, directly or indirectly. The location also houses a Magic Planet FEC and a Little Explorer edutainment centre for small children.
