The first ski slope in the African continent is now in the final phases of its development.
Major Dubai-based mall operator Majid Al Futtaim, which has its own FEC division, MAF Leisure and its Magic Planet chain, is building the Mall of Egypt, which is due to open on March 2, 2017.
The mall is a US$680m project and Ski Egypt will be flanked by another new Magic Planet FEC, covering 3,000sq.m and the country’s first VOX Cinemas Cineplex.
Majid Al Futtaim developed the Ski Dubai snow-feature location in the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai.
The Mall of Egypt is in the 6th of October City and will cover two levels with 350 stores and 50 food and beverage outlets. The gross leasable space covers 165,000sq.m and will come with 6,500 car parking spaces.
The Majid Al Futtaim Group now owns and operates 20 shopping malls across the Middle East and North Africa and recently reported an 11 per cent increase in group revenues for the first half of 2016, at US$4.13bn.
