The strategic partnership provides entry for IGT into the lucrative Italian VLT market, which is estimated to be worth more than $2bn in gross gaming revenue. Lottomatica is one of the leading operators in the market.

Patti Hart, IGT’s CEO, said the company was excited to be stepping into such a large and growing marketplace.

“Partnering with Lottomatica will allow us to engage the Italian VLT players with our leading game content,” she said. “As a global leader in gaming solutions, we are proud to partner with the leading operator of gaming entertainment in Italy and one of the largest gaming companies in the world.”

The US-based company’s game content will be available to the Lottomatica Group for a period of exclusivity, enabling it to offer IGT’s games to a high percentage of the installed base of its network of around 9,000 VLTs.

“Together we will not only increase our significant footprint in the VLT market, but we will be able to combine our resources to provide the Italian players with new and exciting games that will help increase our competitive edge in the market, leveraging on the integration with the Spielo VLT system and games,” added Marco Sala, Lottomatica CEO.
