The Swedish gambling regulator has hit Bet365-owned Hillside Sports and Hillside Gaming with respective fines of SEK65m and SEK14m for responsible gambling failures.

Spelinspektionen says the two operations “have not helped players reduce their gambling when there has been reason to do so.”
It added that there were no specifications on deposit limits per day, week or month and that the companies have “not worked proactively” to act on customers exhibiting potentially problematic behaviour.
“The Gambling Inspectorate also notes that the original action plans lacked a description of what measures should be taken in the event of excessive gambling for young players and for those who had previously been suspended,” a statement added.
One customer in question over the Hillside Gaming fine was allowed to make 44 deposits and 36 withdrawals between October 17, 2021 and November 27, 2021 – amounting to a total loss of SEK287,623 – with no deposit limits set.
As for Hillside Sports, one customer was allowed to raise their daily deposit limit from SEK10,000 to SEK50,000, their weekly deposit limit to SEK100,000 from SEK20,000 and their monthly deposit limit to SEK250,000 from SEK20,000.
In a two-month review period, the customer lost SEK386,400.
