Founded in 1895 as Thames Ironworks, West Ham United play their home games at the prestigious London Stadium and have a large fan base in the UK and worldwide. The club is having one of its best seasons in decades and is featured in the top 20 Forbes’ most valuable clubs list.

Open Banking is also seeing tremendous success in the UK, recently celebrating three years since the regulation went live in the UK.

Trustly says Open Banking is an initiative that “further enhances its unique account-to-account-based payment solution in the UK market, giving merchants the possibility to offer consumers a preferred way to pay.”

Over 2.5 million UK bank customers now connect their accounts to trusted third parties, up from one million in January 2020, according to data from the UK’s Open Banking Implementation Entity.

Johan Nord, EMEA chief business officer at Trustly, said: "Trustly is delighted to partner with West Ham United, the iconic London club in the Premier League. This partnership comes as the UK’s adoption of Open Banking experiences tremendous growth. We’re overjoyed to combine the worlds of football and payment solutions and we look forward to working closely with West Ham throughout this multi-year partnership.”

Nathan Thompson, commercial director at West Ham United, said: “At West Ham United, innovation is key to everything we do and we are thrilled to partner with Trustly, an organisation that is redefining the speed, simplicity and security of payments through its own products.”
