TipTapped, one of the winning start-ups graduating from the one-year Sirius Programme for entrepreneurs, compiles a real-time view of what social media is saying about live and forthcoming sports events – information of potential value to sportsbooks.

The company, which was founded by James Harwood and Thomas Grujic in Oxford, trawls social media for “chatter” about specific sporting events, weeding out irrelevant tweets to deliver conversations focused on a single match – all in real time.

The data collected can also help companies segment their audience, enabling marketers to send the right message to the right people.

The Sirius Programme received 2,300 individual entrants from 93 countries across 953 teams.  There are currently 171 Sirius winners in close to 60 companies around the UK.
