London-listed online gaming company Sportingbet has announced that one of two employees detained by Turkish authorities in May has been released following an appeal.
The individuals are both employees of Sportinbet’s Turkish business, Superbahis. Although the freed employee has now returned to the UK, the other has been refused bail after his appeal and remains in custody awaiting formal charges.
Several non-Sportingbet employees remain in custody, some of whom are understood to be connected to the group’s former marketing partner for the Turkish market, Maslin Properties.
Sportingbet said it continues to trade in Turkey.
