The third quarter results for the year from online betting and gambling in Spain shows that it continues to grow.
The country’s Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling statistics report €3,300m was played during the quarter. Revenue reached €140m.
This is a 37 per cent increase in gross gaming revenues, despite a three per cent decrease in advertising spend. A combined GGR for all game verticals reached €140.5m in the quarter ended September 30, up 16.63 per cent on quarter two. Sports betting accounted for 54.8 per cent of GGR, up 37 per cent compared with the same quarter of 2016, hitting €77m, while casino games also increased by 54.2 per cent to €43.9m.
Slots was the main driver in casino games, contributing €22.3m or 50.9 per cent to the bottom line and roulette followed with €9.1m. Poker was also up 6.8 per cent but bingo revenues decreased by 30.5 per cent to €2.9m.
The report showed that the number of active users in the quarter was 613,812, down 5.05 per cent on the previous quarter but up 13.44 per cent on the same quarter in 2016.
