Sky UK has stated it will bring in fresh rules curbing the number of betting and gambling adverts it shows on its channels, according to reports.
The TV giant will, from the start of the next Premier League season in August, 2019, impose a limit of one gambling ad per commercial break.
The move comes amid pressure on the UK government to take action on the gambling industry, which ramped up following sports minister Tracey Crouch’s resignation last week in protest at a delay in plans to cut the maximum FOBTs stake to £2.
Betting firms had previously come out in favour of a gambling ad ban before the UK’s 9pm watershed.
