As remote devices become increasingly updated, the age of point and click is being replaced with swipe, tap and click.

Speaking to iNTERGAMINGi at EGR Live in London last week, head of casino at Microgaming, Mike Hebden, spoke about the increasing popularity of tablet devices among consumers and how this is broadening the capability and scope for online gaming. He cited smartphones, in particular the iPhone, as the most popular device currently and noted a drop in the number of laptops being purchased. "People are holding back for the next stage of technology at the moment," said Hebden.

Talking about the new hybrid device from Dell - a notebook that when clipped into the frame of the laptop automatically switches to keyboard control - he said: "The age of point and click is coming to an end and swipe, tap and click is beginning."
