Online sports betting and gaming in Portugal generated €260.9m in revenue in Q1, up 14.8 per cent year-on-year and representing a seventh successive quarterly revenue record.

Sports betting accounted for 38.6 per cent of the total, with games of chance making up the remaining 61.4 per cent.
Overall, there was a rise of €33.6m in revenue year-on-year, the regulator, the SRIJ said.
A total of 4.3 million players were recorded in Q1, up 15.6 per cent, while there were 304.1m new players, a rise of 28 per cent year-on-year.
The number of players who have self-excluded in Portugal rose by 42 per cent to €236.2m.
Tax collections from online gaming in Portugal in Q1 reached €86.2m, up 36.6 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2023.
