Paddy Power has said it is “deeply regrets” an “unfortunate” case in which a software error wrongly denied a UK player a £1m win.

As reported by BBC News, Corrine Durber won the Monster Jackpot on one of the Flutter Entertainment brand’s games, entitling her to a win of almost £1.1m.

But she sued PPB Entertainment, which operates Paddy Power, after the game said she only won the £20,265 Daily Jackpot.

Paddy Power said its random number generator (RNG) determined the winning sum, but an animation error led to the wrong result being displayed.

Speaking in his High Court judgement, Mr Justice Ritchie said: "When a trader puts all the risk on a consumer for its own recklessness, negligence, errors, inadequate digital services and inadequate testing, that appears onerous to me."

The judge added that the human error in mapping the software affected 14 plays in 48 days.

A Paddy Power spokesperson said: “We always strive to provide the best customer experience possible and pride ourselves on fairness.

"We deeply regret this unfortunate case and are reviewing the judgment."
