The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the regulator of igaming in the Canadian province of Ontario, is seeking to expand its online and mobile sports betting capacity, reports The Globe and Mail.

The OLG hopes to attract proposals for a broader range of onine gambling, such as novelty betting and gambling on e-sports.
OLG spokesman Tony Bitonti said: "In the last few years, [betting on e-sports] has surged in popularity. There are hundreds of e-sports tournaments events held each year, many in Ontario."
He added: "Novelty betting is placing a bet on an outcome that's not part of a sports or athletic event. For example, the winner of an election or the gender of a baby about to be born to royalty."
The expansion, which is largely focused on sports betting, will also allow bettors to place in-play wagers, something currently unavailable.
"OLG sports offering will include new products that will provide more betting options on a wider variety of events, including all major North American sports leagues and major international sports," Bitonti said.
The OLG expects to appoint a successful bidder late in 2018.
