New York’s sports bettors will have to travel to New Jersey to place bets on the current NFL season, according to a report in the New York Post.
Five years on from voters in New York state approving casino betting for four casinos, it had been expected that the PASPA repeal in May would lead to a quick introduction of sports betting within those upstate premises.
However, according to the report, later this month the New York Gaming Commission will issue regulations for bricks-and-mortar sports betting and that will be followed by a 60-day vetting of the rules.
As the most popular sports for bettors, the NFL is reported to have generated wager of more than US$30bn since 1992 in Nevada.
