New Jersey’s Assembly and Senate has unanimously approved bills to legalise sports betting in a move that paves the way for casinos and racetracks in the state to take wagers.

Casinos in Atlantic City and Monmouth Park racetrack could now begin accepting bets within days, with the final remaining obstacle being the signing into law of the bill by New Jersey Gov. Philip Murphy.
"Governor Murphy looks forward to closely reviewing the sports betting legislation that was recently passed by the Legislature," Murphy's press secretary Dan Bryan said. "The Governor has long been supportive of New Jersey's right to allow sports betting and he wants to ensure that the proposed regulatory scheme is fair and reasonable."
Delaware became the first state other than Nevada to legalise sports betting following the repeal of the Supreme Court ban.
