The Dutch regulator has said it issued three warnings in August over untargeted advertising, following the introduction of the new regulations at the start of July.

Kansspelautoriteit, Netherlands

Kansspelautoriteit said it received “several signals” in the first period since the ban on untargeted advertising came into effect, including advertising still being visible in public places such as bus shelters and billboards.

The Netherlands-based gambling providers in question were subsequently questioned by the KSA, which said the operators removed such advertisements.

The regulator noted that it “informed providers in advance about the new regulations and warned them not to push the boundaries,” adding that it would take “immediate enforcement action” if it spotted “obvious violations.”

The ban on untargeted advertising also covers television, radio, newspapers and magazines.

Advertising online and through e-mail remains permitted on certain conditions.
