Mobile gaming will form an important part of the future of the gambling industry, according to Simon Murphy of WagerWorks.
Murphy told iNTERGAMINGi that many of the obstacles to the widespread proliferation of mobile gaming have been removed, enabling company’s such as WagerWorks to pursue new opportunities and strengthen their product offering.
"Now we have the technology in place - both in terms of devices and the tools - to be able to create great games for mobile, to operate games securely and to ensure that players can only play the games from legal jurisdictions," he said. "Technology has, up to a point, been a limiting factor, but now we are at a point where that can’t be used as an excuse for why mobile gaming isn’t booming."
There remains a degree of skepticism among consumers about mobile transactions, just as there were when the internet first came along, Murphy explained, stating that WagerWorks is in a healthy position to address this.
"Something that we’re quite fortunate to benefit from is that we’ve got a great heritage of being a very compliant business," he continued. "We’ve also got fantastic game brands that people know and we also work with premier operators, so it gives that impression of security and makes people more comfortable."
