Wave Telecom, part of JT Group, has announced the acquisition of Newtel Guernsey, including Newtel Data Services and GuernseyNet.
This acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approvals, strengthens Wave Telecom’s position in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and further enhances Wave’s breadth of services aimed at both business and residential customers.
On a global scale, the acquisition allows Wave Telecom to further promote both the Bailiwick as a world-class location for e-business and its own highly resilient IP-based network.
Tim Ringsdore, managing director of Wave Telecom, said: "Attracting international e-business to the island is hugely beneficial to the local economy and there is great potential to bring more business of this kind to the island. Wave Telecom has invested significantly in the Bailiwick of Guernsey since entering the market in 2002 and we will continue to do so with the next phase of investment being a multi-million pound expansion to the current hosting facility, which will help drive future growth in this area."
