The Dutch gambling regulator has warned an affiliate that a €6,250 fine for promoting unlicensed igaming operators could rise to over €31,000 if it does not comply.

In December 2021, the regulator, Kansspelautoriteit, handed out the €6,250 penalty to LCB Corp, which operates the LCB affiliate platform in the Netherlands, and ordered it to terminate the advertisement communications for the unlicensed content.

The KSA said the company did not object to the imposed penalty payment but said the forfeited penalty payments have not been paid. It added that upon reinspection of the website in December 2022, an audit revealed that players could still access unlicensed igaming content. Players could set up an account and deposit funds with the unlicensed operator, the KSA said.

The KSA said LCB did not take up the option of submitting an opinion on the matter as part of a letter sent to the affiliate explaining the regulator’s intention to collect penalty payments.

The regulator has now ordered LCB to pay the €6,250 fine within six weeks or face a maximum fine of €31,250.
