Online sports betting revenue in Kentucky, US, fell 5.8 per cent year-on-year in January but rose in the latest month-on-month comparison.

The Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Corporation reported revenue of US$32.3m, down from $34.3m in January 2024 but up 64.7 per cent from December 2024’s $19.6m.
The latest online sports betting handle in the Bluegrass State was $270.99m, up 14.4 per cent year-on-year from $236.9m in January 2024.
However, the figure declined 5.1 per cent from the $285.5m in online wagers in December 2024.
As for taxes, the state took $4.6m, with the figure falling 5.2 per cent from $4.9m in January 2024 but rising 59 per cent from $2.9m in December.
Retail sports wagering in Kentucky contributed $6.1m in handle, $696,882 in revenue and $54,811 in taxes in January.
Since the state opened its doors to regulated online wagering at the end of September 2023, there has been online handle of $3.66bn, revenue of $404.5m and taxes of $57.8m generated.
Retail has contributed $130.9m in handle, $10m in revenue and $1m in taxes since regulated land-based wagering began at the start of September 2023.
