Intralot has been awarded a licence to offer online sports betting in South Africa.
Its subsidiary Intralot South Africa obtained a fixed odds betting licence from the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, which allows them to offer online, telephone and mobile betting to players nationwide. It will operate under the brand JUSTBET.
The group's sports betting will mainly include football, rugby, cricket and selected golf events, the most popular sports in South Africa. The new game will be offered in Western Cape through a network of agents and to the rest of the country through a dedicated website.
The online part of the deal only covers sports betting as all other types are not permitted due to legislation there.
