It is becoming reportedly unlikely that online gaming bills by Barney Frank and Jim McDermott will pass any time soon.
Although there is still time to pass, according to several reports on the internet, plans to legalise online gaming in the US have lost momentum and supporters are pessimistic that it will be legal before the end of this year.
As the bill was passed in July by a vote of 41 to 22 by the House Financial Services Committee, it can be voted on in the House. However, there is little space for a vote in Congress this month. Congress adjourns for the mid-term elections on October 8 with a return likely at the beginning of November.
The opening of the market would bring a much welcomed increase in revenue to the US but many Republicans are still against legalising online gaming.
