German online lottery provider Zeal Network is beginning the search for a new CEO after Helmut Becker revealed his intention to step down.

Becker (pictured) has decided not to renew his contract, which expires in January 2026.
He has been part of Zeal’s executive board for over 12 years, including almost 10 years as CEO.
Becker said it was a “difficult decision” but that “now is the right time” to pursue his own “entrepreneurial endeavours.”
“I will especially miss our exceptionally strong team and the unique culture we have built together, characterised by innovation, customer focus and team spirit,” he added.
“I will continue to work hard until the end of my term to achieve the goals we have set together.”
Zeal said it “strongly regrets” Becker’s decision but noted that being informed at an “early stage” has allowed ample time to begin a “structured process” for his successor.
“Under his leadership, Zeal has established itself as a market leader in the online lottery market, significantly expanded its customer base and crucially broadened its offering through innovative product development,” said Peter Steiner, chairman of the company’s supervisory board.
“On behalf of the supervisory board, I would like to thank him for his outstanding commitment and strategic vision. We wish him all the best for his personal life and professional career.”
Zeal recently appointed a new chief financial officer in Andrea Behrendt, who transitions from the role of currently VP group controlling and portfolio management at the company.
She succeeds Sebastian Bielski in the role, who will be leaving the company on March 31, to “pursue new professional challenges.”
