The German gambling regulator has held a meeting with officials from the market’s federal states as it looks to improve player protection in the country.

The Joint Gambling Authority of the Federal States met with the state coordinators of the states in Halle on Tuesday, with joint cooperation on player protection and harm prevention key on the agenda.
The focus was also on the country-specific characteristics of the state departments with regards to addiction-related issues in online gaming.
GGL board member Ronald Benter said: “We have achieved this goal. After an initial meeting of the board last year, a personal meeting took place between the state coordinators and other GGL representatives from the various specialist departments, which gave us important insights for future cooperation.”
Fellow board member Benjamin Schwanke added: “We see ourselves as a central contact when it comes to questions about research needs, analysis of new market developments and trends, prevention and player protection as well as special aspects of online gambling.
“Since the state specialist offices are in close contact with their regional addiction counselling centres, specialist outpatient clinics and the addiction support system, the knowledge that we obtain from close cooperation with the state specialist offices or state coordinators is very important for our work.”
