Gaming commissioners from Jersey, Alderney and Gibraltar appeared in London yesterday before a UK parliamentary select committee to look at UK online gambling services.

Graham White, chairman of Jersey Gambling Commission, Andre Wilsenach, executive director of Alderney Gambling Control Commission, and Phillip Brear, gambling commissioner of Gibraltar Gambling Commission, were scheduled to appear before a House of Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee who are assessing why UK companies have left the country to set up offshore.

The UK parliamentary select committee is reviewing the British gambling industry and looking at the possibility of secondary licensing and taxation of online gambling, something which has been considered for a number of months now.

Also appearing before the committee were former Secretary of State Tessa Jowell and former Sport and Tourism Minister Richard Caborn, who visited Gibraltar when in office to assess the gaming industry and its regulation.
