The Danish gambling regulator now has more powers at its disposal when faced with breaches of the country’s gambling law.

The new measures granted by the government, which came into force on Monday, include the ability to issue an order and/or reprimand if it finds a breach.

Should the licensee fail to comply or not meet the deadline for addressing the failing, the licensee can be reported to the police or have their licence revoked.

The new powers are an upgrade from previously, when Spillemyndigheden was only able to warn the licence holder or report it to the police when it found a breach.

The gambling regulator must now also publish court rulings where the outcome is a verdict of guilty or a partial verdict and fines have been issued for breaches found after July 1. These must be present on the regulator’s website for five years.
