The FA has been urged to reconsider selling its FA Cup broadcast rights through a third party to Bet365.

From the start of last season, the bookmaker has held the rights to show ties through its app and website, but fans needed to place a bet or open an account with a deposit.

Last weekend, 23 third-round matches were available to view on Bet365.

The FA said three years ago that it would cut all ties with gambling companies, but the six-year agreement was signed before that decision.

Former Sports Minister Tracey Crouch told the BBC she hopes the FA will reconsider the decision to sell FA Cup broadcast rights to Bet365.

"I am deeply uncomfortable and disappointed by the sale," said Crouch, MP for Chatham and Aylesford.

The FA stated: “The FA agreed a media rights deal with IMG in early 2017, part of which permits them to sell the right to show live footage or clips of FA Cup matches to bookmakers.

"Bet365 acquired these rights from IMG to use from the start of the 2018-19 season.

"This deal was agreed before we made a clear decision on the FA's relationship with gambling companies in June 2017 when we ended our partnership with Ladbrokes."
