In the first nine months of the year, the FTSE 250 group posted an eight per cent decline in total revenue to €429.9m, which it attributed to the impact of EU VAT and the sale of its non-core businesses.

Norbert Teufelberger, chief executive of bwin, said: "Current trading has been strong, despite the impact of EU VAT and further declines in poker.

“With solid progress on expanding our mobile footprint and the full-year benefit of the cost savings already made, we remain confident about the outlook.”
