The effects of the proposed gambling tax hike in the Netherlands will be passed onto players, according to a Dutch government document.

As analysed by CasinoNieuws, the Central Planning Bureau’s report on the proposed tax hike, which is part of wider plans for a range of sectors, “is an increase in burden” on consumers of €200m.
The four coalition parties in the Netherlands recently agreed to increase the gambling tax from 30.5 to 37.8 per cent, a rise of 7.3 per cent.
The plan is to raise €202m in government funds.
CasinoNieuws said gambling companies could well reduce the number of times six-figure prizes are won.
Weaking odds for consumers may also be an effect of the plan, it said.
