The Dutch gambling authority has warned the industry about unlicensed betting on harness racing after exposing such activity from one operator.

Kansspelautoriteit said the provider in question “immediately stopped” the unlicensed activity after being approached by the regulator, who “leaves it at a warning.”
At the beginning of October, the KSA said it received a signal about a licensed provider offering betting on harness racing, which it was not permitted to offer.
“The offer was stopped within 40 minutes after contacting the KSA by the provider and was no longer observed,” the regulator said.
It added that “further investigation” revealed that no players had bet on the unlicensed activity and that “no turnover was generated.”
“Due to the adequate response and direct action of the provider, the KSA has left it with a warning for now,” it said.
“The KSA would like to emphasize that this is a serious violation. The gambling sector is a fraud and addiction-sensitive sector. It is therefore very important that there are rules attached to games of chance and that license holders adhere to those rules.”
