The year 2008 recorded a dramatic rise in the number of Americans playing games of skill. The leading US and UK rummy portal has reported a 50 per cent rise during 2007 and 2008 in the number of Americans playing skill games, with 35 per cent of these playing gin rummy.
According to a survey by RummyRoyal, the 23 million Americans who played online games until the new law was enforced moved over to skill games, showing a marked preference for Oklahoma Gin Rummy, an American favourite.
