The Danish Gambling Authority has joined a court case as a co-intervener in support of players looking to claim withdrawals from an operator which has been placed under bankruptcy.

The trustee in bankruptcy for DK Gambling has rejected the claims, but one player has appealed to a court about the rejection, with the outcome of the case expected to have wider implications on the withdrawal attempts by other players – and for future cases of this nature.

Spillemyndigheden, which handed out a licence to DK Gambling, said it wants players’ funds to be secured and will subsequently make a submission in the court case in support of the player in question.

The case will go to trial on February 6 next year.

Players looking to withdraw their funds from the operator, which trades as Onsidebetting in Denmark, have made their claims as separatist claims due to gambling legislation ruling that operators must keep player funds in such a way that they are secured in the event of bankruptcy.
