The Dutch Gaming Authority, the KSA, has seen its igaming enforcement policy backed by the Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands.

Court backing for Dutch igaming prohibition

The court ruled that claims from Betsson that Dutch policy contradicted EU law were not admissible and that the KSA’s interpretation of current Dutch law was correct.

Betsson had argued that “the ongoing confusion in the Dutch market as unacceptable,” adding that "the current law in the Netherlands is not in line with EU law.”

Betsson had asked the European Commission to reopen the infringement procedings that were initiated against the Netherlands in 2006.

The Hague court did not agree and Betsson’s claims were thrown out.
