Initial data from the regulated online gaming market launched on January 1 in Brazil is encouraging, James Wheatcroft of Jefferies said.

Web traffic analysis shows high levels of activity, with 63.4 million daily average visits across 150 licensed igaming sites, Wheatcroft said.

For context, this is 45 per cent higher than average daily web traffic to YouTube in Brazil, he noted.

The market leader in Brazil has been Betano with 11.8 million average daily visits. Prior to regulation, Betano was the market share leader in Brazil with a 21 per cent share, followed by bet365 with an 18 per cent share, Wheatcroft said.

Post-regulation, Betano retained the market share lead at 19 per cent, followed by Superbet with a 14 per cent share.

Flutter Entertainment’s Betnacional and Entain’s Sportingbet maintained their podium positions in the market in the sixth and seventh spots so far, respectively, growing traffic more than 500 per cent year-over-year, he said.

B2B companies Better Collective, Evolution, Kambi and Playtech should benefit from how intense competition is in the market, he said.
