Mobile sports betting operators in North Carolina brought in US$105.3m in gross gaming revenue in April, the state’s first full month of wagering activity.

After opening to regulated betting on March 11, the Tar Heel State’s Lottery Commission had reported revenue of $66.5m for the rest of the month.

However, the April figure represents a 58 per cent increase on the initial revenue.

Sports betting handle also increased month-on-month in April to $569.3m, up 24.7 per cent from March’s $456.7m.

The proportion of promotional wagering revenue declined in April to $79.7m, down from $202.6m in March.

Total wagering revenue before deductions for promotions and cancelled or void wagers was $648.9m in April.
