The Royal Bank of Scotland Group has enlisted 192.com Business Services to offer a new customer identification check service for its customers.
Utilising 192.com’s expertise in the field of identity verification, RBS said the new service will enhance its existing range of customer-not-present fraud management tools.
"The ID check service offers a customer validation solution that is easy to use, robust and effective," said RBS. "The service incorporates three possible checks: age verification, identity verification and ‘know your customer’."
"Each check may be used separately or collectively, as customers require. For added flexibility, customers can also request the depth of customer identity check to match the value of the transaction."
Under the system, merchants collect customer data as normal and the solution verifies customer information to the depth of check requested, against various private sector and government-issued data sources in real time.
Ron Kalifa, managing director of RBS Retailer Solutions, commented: "A simple ID check that is invisible to the customer is a key step in battling ecommerce and customer-not-present fraud."
