Swiss VR company Kynoa has unveiled a virtual reality table football, the Koliseum VR Series

“It’s a new approach to VR,” said Frank Kassaratos, global sales and marketing director, speaking at the recent DEAL trade show in Dubai. “Many games, including VR, can lead to social isolation and we already see that too much in our kids. Kynoa has created a new spin in that it is a product that has people playing together competitively or co-operatively.” The game was shown for the first time outside Switzerland, having been launched at the start of the year on a trial basis in some malls in the country. There are now plans to deploy it to coincide with the World Cup at the upmarket Manor department store in Geneva. “We’ve had it at gaming events and the reception has been extremely positive. We’ve proved that it’s a bonding experience, it doesn’t isolate. Because foosball is such a familiar concept, there’s no instructions or walkthroughs necessary. Players feel more confident to get involved. It’s a four-player game but you can link up several tables remotely if necessary, it’s very flexible. We also have an ice hockey version coming and we’ve visions of motocross, basketball and cricket as well, so it’s been designed as a hardware solution that can be updated regularly, providing greater longevity to an operator.”
