Mark Horwood, managing director, and Michael Green, sales director of UDC, recently completed a five-day visit to the Far East, covering various suppliers in China and then at the GTI Asia expo held in Taipei, Taiwan.

Commenting on the trip, Green said: "We had a gruelling few days. Mark and I spent a lot of time looking at new products and lining up our purchasing programme for later this year, and planning ahead already for the 2009 season.

"Many of the games on show were exciting in their innovation, but we are most selective in what we purchase, so later in the year we will be back again to see how far our suppliers have taken on board our suggestions for improvements."

Horwood added: "The manufacturers in Taipei are on a learning curve. Every year the games improve, but in Europe we are used to seeing the finished article on show, over here we are often looking at prototypes.

“However, our contact suppliers are quick to learn and accept what we have to say and they take on board our suggestions and act on them.

"We will come to the next UK show with some great games for our customers - games with which they can earn money."
