A number of riders were injured in an incident involving a fairground ride in Centenary Square, Birmingham, UK, on Friday.

West Mercia Police arrested two men, aged 55 and 21, at the scene, suspected of perverting the course of justice and obstructing police officers.

The fire brigade was also called to the incident to help ambulance staff rescue people who were on the ride, which had failed and crashed, according to the fire service. Two casualties were taken to hospital while 11 others were treated at the scene.

The ride was the City Star Flyer which rises to 55ft and was reported to be operated by Danter Attractions. The failure of the riide is now being investigated with full assistance from the operator.
