Banijay Group, the company behind some of the most popular shows on TV, has launched a new location-based entertainment arm.

Banijay Live Studio will be dedicated to the creation and production of out-of-home entertainment experiences and will look to build life-size action games and VR attractions aimed at broad audiences.
The new unit will be led by its newly appointed senior producer, Tristan Desplechin, while Banijay Live’s CEO Francois de Brugada will oversee the new arm.
It will have access to Banijay Entertainment’s catalogue of IP, including Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror and MasterChef.
Banijay says that it will create local experiences initially, with a view to an international roll-out later down the line, and that it has already developed an idea for its first experience, a VR experience centred around Black Mirror.
De Brugada commented: “Given the offering in new forms of out-of-home entertainment experiences is still fragmented, with no clear leader emerging, there is vast opportunity to move and grow in this space. Capitalising on all our skills, our vast internal and external networks, and Banijay Entertainment’s significant portfolio of IP, we are in an advantageous position to launch and scale high-potential projects with significant cross-territory appeal.”
