A bowling venue in Norwich, UK, is at the centre of an upset between players who want to retain it and the Lidl supermarket chain that wants to demolish it and turn it into a store.

The Namco Funscape in Barnard Road, Bowthorpe, however, told us yesterday: “‘Bandai Namco Amusements Europe operate the Namco Funscape bowling facility in Norwich and anticipate continuing to trade under the lease, which does not expire until June 2027.”
The confusion came as a result of an approach by Lidl to take over the building and then demolish it to become a site for a new supermarket. Lidl is quoted in the Eastern Daily Press as saying that the venue has "no viable future."
The location is popular with local residents who are critical of the plan and so far 24 objections to Lidl’s application have been lodged. Local councillor Gary Blundell is quoted as saying that he felt the Lidl application was "speculative."
