The Gamenet exhibition held in Athens, Greece, in February proved an excellent opportunity for touchscreen terminal manufacturer Funworld to see its Photo Play terminals in Greek locations first hand.
Petra Franzmeier of the company told InterGame: "Our terminals are located pretty much everywhere in Greece, from cool little bars where you will find the Sprinter model rested on the bar, to big bowling centres and shopping malls where you will see the whole range of terminals.
"The positioning of Photo Play terminals is different to a lot of other countries and young people will tend to either play together on one terminal or against each other on several terminals via a tournament when they go out in the evening."
Photo Play terminals are distributed by Funworld’s partner DNA A Kyzakis & SIA OE, which is headed up by Nikos Serdaris.
According to Franzmeier, what Serdaris and his team have done over the past few years is look at the player requirements and needs and then cater for them.
"New games, activities and content are added to the terminals all the time," said Franzmeier. "And it was a great pleasure to see the results of his ambitious work when we visited several of the locations."
The new system 2008 with its online features such as the duel mode and the four-player challenge are also apparently resulting in a substantial increase in cashbox takings.
