Sound Leisure of the UK has introduced a MicroPro speaker specially designed for use in outdoor conditions.
The company expects the outdoor speaker to be particularly popular with the English smoking ban coming into effect this month.
The speaker is designed to be discreetly positioned under the eaves of a building or under the canopy of the outdoor smoking area of pubs, clubs or restaurants.
The speaker is extremely compact - about the size of an A4 piece of paper. It can fill unusually large areas with clear, non-directional sound, while the flat construction allows it to be used in visually sensitive situations.
Over several years, flat panel loudspeaker technology, has advanced to the point where newly developed compact high power transducers can produce significant sound pressure levels to give a full and natural sound experience.
However, due to the diffuse nature of the sound produced by the MicroPro outdoor speaker, the music stays within the intended area and does not cause noise pollution that could upset neighbours.
As Sound Leisure now manufactures the MicroPro in-house, the colour of the grille can be changed to suit the décor of the location if necessary.
