The first escape rooms venue to be opened between Albuquerque and Durango, New Mexico, has just celebrated its second anniversary at Farmington in San Juan County.

And it has survived the pandemic, so far, taking extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of its customers, including sanitising between the four games and keeping parties separate to avoid mixing groups.

The location of Escapology is in the Animas Valley Mall and owned by husband and wife Cody and Leah Stovall and Cody’s sister, Anna Stovall. This year the throughput of people has been only 40 per cent of the previous year, because of the pandemic.

They started the business in 2019 and the four-room venue has been very successful, even though Farmington only has a population of around 40,000. The reason, said Cody, is that the small town has very little in the way of entertainment activities for families.
