Six new major arcades have been opened by Germany's Gauselmann Group in Romania, Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic.

The group’s Merkur Casino division will use the Merkur Spielo brand in Hungary but work under its own name in the other destinations.

In Romania it has opened at Brasov, a 280,000 population city in the Carpathians. The location contains automated roulette and AWP gaming machines and the Atronic CashFever bonus jackpot.

Also in Romania, Merkur has opened at Ploiesti, an industrial city close to Bucharest, and has a 510sqm floor area for a CashFever, two roulette tables and 53 AWPs.

In Hungary, where Merkur has had arcades for over 10 years, the Spielo centre has opened at Nyiregyhaza, the seventh largest city in the country close to the borders with Slovakia, Romania and the Ukraine. There are 11 poker machines and two roulettes among the 42 machines on offer.

In Austria Merkur opened its first arcade in the famous amusement park area of the Prater. The 460sqm is staffed by 12 people. In the Czech Republic two more Merkur Casinos were opened, bringing to eight the number of locations the company has in the country.

The first is at Pankrac in Prague with 37 AWPs and the other is in a new shopping centre in Mlada Bolesav, north east of Prague, with 30 machines including an electronic roulette.
