Six Flags Great Adventure is set to launch a new roller coaster attraction this spring which is the first of its type in the US.

The Flash

The park, which is located in Jackson, New Jersey, has unveiled The Flash: Vertical Velocity from manufacturer Vekoma. It includes both forwards and backwards launches, four inversions, 10 airtime moments and a top speed of 60mph.

The ride utilises the famous comic book license of The Flash, with the coaster set to reach high speeds, just like its namesake.

Brian Bacica, park president, said: “The Flash: Vertical Velocity is the perfect addition to our world-class lineup of roller coasters at Six Flags Great Adventure. This high-energy ride delivers everything coaster fans are looking for — forward and backward launches, inversions and an adrenaline rush that even The Flash himself would approve of.

“With its 48ins height requirement, junior and experienced thrill seekers alike will have the chance  to experience it first-hand.”
