After 20 years in business, the seafront Leisure Island Fun Park on Canvey Island, Essex, UK, is closing.
No reason for the closure has been given, but neighbouring attraction Fantasy island, with its arcade and children’s play centre, continues in operation. The Fun Park has more than 20 rides and attractions and is situated on the Eastern Esplanade.
On social media, the business thanked those who had supported it, saying that "nearly 3,000 members of staff had worked at the site over the years."
The media statement said: “As everyone knows, 95 per cent of our staff were 16 and 17-year-olds and started their working life at the park. It's so sad we have had to close the park but hopefully we have created loads of memories for the families that visited us."
