Sandbox VR, in partnership with Netflix, has launched its 10th location-based VR experience based on the streaming giant’s film, Rebel Moon.

In Rebel Moon: The Descent, teams of between two and six players gear up using haptic vests, wrist sensors, ankle sensors and headsets to battle against the forces of the Motherworld’s military.
It is Sandbox’s second collaboration with Netflix following the release of Squid Game Virtuals, which broke records for the company, generating US$4.5m in ticket sales in its first two months.
Sandbox’s CEO, Steve Zhao, said: “Working with partners like Netflix to build immersive virtual reality experiences based on beloved existing IP is a key component of our long-term growth strategy. We knew the breathtaking imagery and captivating story of Rebel Moon would be a perfect backdrop for a collaborative, immersive, and social Sandbox VR virtual reality experience.”
The company now has 55 locations across the globe and is focused on growing that number through its franchising programme.
